Hypermedia

Hypermedia is the fusion of hypertext and multimedia. The synergy of the two make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. Combining multimedia with hypertext provides a paradigm for organizing information that is even more organic to our minds, as it mimics our mind's ability to associate and organize multisensory information.

Hypermedia allows links to text, images, sound, and video. This allows the author to provide, in an open, nonlinear environment the optimal media mix for communicating a given message or effect.
